Safari vs. Firefox

I had some trouble with the richtext editor in wordpress. It would not make linebreaks and paragraphs, even though I edited the code myself. Now I found out that the problem only occurs in safari. It works well in firefox. I dont’t know if the problem lies in safari or in wordpress javascript code.
I also experienced problem with gmail in safari. The live search in the To:, Cc: and Bcc field only works some times. It worked in the old gmail version and it is possible to switch to the old version by clicking the link “older version” in the upper right hand corner, but who does that? I have made firefox my default browser.
